Ian’s Blog 28th January 2024

I have just finished reading a very entertaining novel called The Tudor Deception by Scott Mariani. It is a pro Ricardian Thriller that features the Richard III Society. At the end of the book, in the author notes, he describes Philippa Langley as a real life heroine. It's a shame that it was written prior to the latest missing Princes evidence as I am sure the author would have used this in his novel.

Here is a link to the book:-

 Ian’s Blog 7th January 2024

In view of the number of songs I have recorded about Richard III, I found the discussion between Matt Lewis and Nathen Amen on this podcast about the missing Princes to be very interesting

https://podfollow.com/not-just-the-tudors/episode/d72a341a7ee08a22a307d70c71a3e2b0519f1725/view

Not surprisingly Matt, who is the chairman of the Richard III Society, argues that they survived the reign of Richard III, whereas Nathen believes that they were murdered. I’ve read Philippa Langley’s new book, seen the C4 documentary and after listening to Matt and Nathen I am of the opinion that Lambert Simnel and Perkin Warbeck were names made up by the Tudor monarchy. It makes much more sense that they were actually Edward V and his younger brother Richard based upon what we know had happened and the evidence that is available to us. I feel that Nathen is basing his beliefs upon too much hearsay and speculation. Obviously as a Ricardian I am biassed in my opinion but then again so is Nathen and I guess he doesn’t want to rewrite his history books about this period of history. I’m not sure that I want to record some of my songs about this period of history where I have based my lyrics upon what I previously believed.
