Ian’s Blog 20th July 2025 We arrived back home in Torquay yesterday evening after our holiday in Yorkshire. We stayed in a small village called Lofthouse. On Monday we visited Rippon and it was interesting to see the tomb of the third Sir Thomas Markenfield who fought for Richard III at the battle of Bosworth. There is a connection to the Markenfield family ( who were based at Markenfield Hall near Rippon ) and the Coldridge investigation. This is in respect of the research about the tomb of John Evans and the Edward V stained glass window in Coldridge. Prior to John Evans being granted a considerable estate in Coldridge this had been given to Robert Markenfield by Richard III in 1484. Robert was the brother of Sir Thomas Markenfield.
